AFFORDABLE COUNSELLING

You’re worth it.

You and your mental health are worth it. Let’s talk about how we can help you.

You have enough to worry about. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not you can afford to take care of your mental health.

We know that many people do not have the health coverage or financial means required to access the services they need on a regular basis. And, we know that if you are struggling to pay for rent and groceries, it’s easy to see how putting therapy into your budget can feel impossible. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We believe therapy should be accessible at an affordable rate for those facing financial barriers. That’s why we offer affordable therapy options through our Student Therapist Program.

We’re here for you.

Our affordable counselling services are provided by talented Social Work or Counselling Psychology students in their ‘practicum’ year of study, which we refer to as Student Therapists.

  • A Student Therapist is a Masters’ graduate level student who has completed their academic education in either Counselling Psychology or Social Work.

In order to complete their practical training within their field of study, these students are required to earn ‘placement’ hours by providing client counselling.

This placement must be under the supervision of a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist.

Once they have completed their training, clinical requirements and passed the Registration Examination, they are eligible to apply for accreditation as a full Registered Psychotherapist by The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or a Registered Social Worker by The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

  • Student Therapists bring a fresh perspective with knowledge about the latest and most effective forms of intervention and a willingness to apply what they have learned to support you.

A Student Therapist is also under the direct supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker while completing their training. So, you can rest assured that both your Student Therapist and their experienced supervisor will collaborate together for the best outcome.

  • Student Therapists are able to support you with a wide range of mild to moderate issues including:

    Anxiety

    Depression

    Stress

    Life Transitions

    Self-Care

    Self-Esteem

    Coping Skills

  • Student Therapists are learning professionals and there are certain issues that are outside of their scope of practice. This includes any severe symptoms and crisis issues like:

    Psychiatric Disorders

    Addiction

    Abuse

    Trauma

  • Our Affordable Counselling rates are approximately 50-75% lower than our standard therapeutic service fees.

Typically, this rate is $75 CDN per session but, if your financial barriers make this unfeasible, we are willing to discuss individual circumstances to see how we can accommodate you and your budget.
