How would you handle a crisis?

It’s commonplace that many organizations require individuals be certified in medical first aid in order to address any medical concerns that could arise in the workplace. But what happens when a mental health crisis occurs?

It can be difficult to create a healthy environment at work if you don’t have the training to successfully support the mental health concerns of your employees. We can help.

  • Opening Minds is a division of the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Opening Minds is a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides training and the tools to talk about mental health, change negative attitudes, and reduce stigma related to mental illness. It is the largest systematic effort in Canadian history focused on eliminating stigma.

The Mental Health for All (MHFA) Canada program they have developed aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague.

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify and help a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing a mental health crisis, or a worsening of their mental health.

Like physical first aid, MHFA assistance is provided until professional support arrives.

    Individuals trained in MHFA:

    >> Increase their knowledge of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental health problems.

    >> Have the confidence and certainty to help someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

  • MHFA Certification has been proven to:

    >> Increase productivity.

    >> Increase cost savings due to a reduction in absenteeism, presenteeism, and disability leave.

    >> Increase operational success, employee motivation, creativity, commitment, and innovation.

    >> Decrease employee turnover.

    >> Decrease workplace conflict.

  • Anyone and everyone can benefit from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification. From psychological health and safety in the office to schools and community groups, MHFA is well suited for any organization or team seeking to reduce incidents of mental health issues or crises.

We offer MHFA Certification for workplaces of all sizes and types.
