Are you the parent of a young girl or teen who struggles with low self-esteem?

This group is for girls aged 10-14 who feel sadness, shame or anger about their body and/or ‘perceived’ self worth. The goal of this group is to provide your child with the information, tools and guidance they need to develop self-compassion, confidence and a healthier sense of self.

The rate of young girls and teens who report feeling dissatisfied with their bodies and low self-esteem has increased with the rise of social media and exposure to mainstream media images of an ideal kind of beauty.

In fact, over 90% of girls are dissatisfied with their bodies.

This group is designed for young girls to build strategies and skills to recognize the various (and some perceived) stressors within their lives that impact their perceptions of their self-esteem and overall confidence.

During this 6 week group program, the topics each week build on one another to first create consciousness around their emotions (such as sadness, shame, anger etc.) that affect their self-esteem. The girls can then build their ‘emotional’ vocabulary and coping skills to take actionable steps to challenge their patterns of thinking and behaving. Ultimately, in doing so they can shift their perceptions and start viewing themselves as capable, worthy of love and belonging.

Participants will be guided through various activities and discussions which allow them a safe and non-judgmental space to share their experiences, cultivate healthy connections with others and give them the opportunity to encourage and empower one another.

Topics Discussed

  • Let’s Get Real: The problem with social media and how it impacts our self-image and body image

  • Under Pressure: The social pressures to conform to ‘ideal’ standards of beauty and self-worth

  • You are Capable: Taking the fear out of failure

  • You are Worthy: Practicing self-compassion and leaderships skills
