Let’s see if we’re a good fit…

Progress over perfection.

I believe that mental health is about having a sense of balance and control. I believe that the ideal mental health status isn't just about experiencing positive things, or having happy thoughts. Rather, it’s the ability to hold space or acknowledge the positive, the negative, the impacts of trauma and the way it shows up for you in relational contexts, and then forge a path that is meaningful for you.

The greatest misconception about mental health is that it is symptomatic of failed resilience or a lack of strength. The reality is: that hindsight is always great, but you make the best decisions possible with the available tools or resources to you at the time.

I want you to know that I have experience working with a range of families, children and couples. I utilize an integrative approach, which enables me to be more adaptive to your specific treatment needs.

My goal is to develop a therapeutic relationship that creates space for healing and for hope. In many ways, the aim is to model a safe relationship that can help launch couples and families to own ‘healthier’ relationships outside of the therapy space.

My ultimate wish is that my clients feel heard, valued and gain the skills they need to move forward and grow.

I’m here for you.

Q&A

  • Curiosity about life, about making sense of how things completely of one's control can shape our realities.

  • I specialize in: Divorce and Separation Counselling, Co-parenting Counselling and Section 30 Assessments.

I am passionate about general aspects of family dynamics, which can range from dysfunctional family relationships to the impacts of intimate partner violence, adolescent to parent conflict and separation and divorce.

It is very rewarding to help individuals, families or couples to make sense of the underlying need for connection that is often misunderstood or lost as negative patterns of communication emerge and family systems are stuck in unhelpful cycles.

The area of focusing on the best interests of a child, especially in the context of separation is very important to me, as conflict can often shape a child's experiences and life trajectory in ways that are not helpful for all aspects of their development.

  • I am often described as open and authentic. I think authenticity for me looks like creating a safe space for vulnerability, but also able to challenge my clients when needed and recognize my own limitations as well. I am multicultural, which gives me the benefit of not having one singular perspective and allows me to be more appreciative of diverse life experiences.

  • I believe that objectivity, empathy, patience, being inquisitive and non-judgmental, are important qualities for a therapist to have.

  • What I value most in a client is openness.

  • The challenge of navigating complex stories and experiences, not by being the expert in the room, but helping to hold space such that different perspectives are gained, and new helpful meanings are cocreated with my clients.
