Let’s see if we’re a good fit…
We can do hard things, but we don’t have to do it alone.
The biggest misconception about mental illness is that there’s a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution to mental health.
Mental health is a fluid concept, and I think it varies by individual depending on environmental circumstances. I think the expectation that we should ‘have’ mental health all the time is a risky one. Instead, I like the idea of normalizing the reality that sometimes, we do not feel our best, mentally - and that’s OK - as long as we’re aware and acknowledging it.
For me, mental health is achievable when you connect to yourself and those in your life that you care about. I think we need to start thinking about mental health in the context of overall ‘wellness’. To me, wellness is a sense of peace, feeling centered and rooted. It’s about being able to connect with who you are and what you need in any given moment. I think when we start to lose track of wellness practices, we lose touch with these fundamentals of well-being.
I see therapy as a collaborative process. You can me expect me to be knowledgeable; but more importantly, you can expect a flexible approach that centers on your own experiences, insights and ideas. You are always the most instrumental factor propelling us forward.
I’m here for you.
Q&A
-
I always planned to pursue Psychology and therapy because I find connecting with others to be a fundamental driving force for both individual and collective wellness.
-
I am most interested in working with those who are struggling with abusive or hurtful relationships.
Specifically, violence against women, partner abuse, interpersonal trauma, anger management and conflict resolution.
Having a space that is non-judgmental and is expressly reserved to hold the things that are not acknowledged elsewhere, can go along way towards understanding and making meaning of some of the experiences that might otherwise interfere with health and wellness. I think we underestimate the power of saying things aloud with a witness.
Being seen and valued despite the things about which we feel shame or guilt, or confusion, can go a long way to cultivating health and well-being.
-
I believe authenticity is important. I tend to be ‘real’ in sessions, and I strive to bring a degree of humanity to my therapeutic relationships.
I hope to counter the inherent power dynamic that is implicit in therapeutic relationships by intentionally using my own experiences to further discussions.
My ultimate goal is to work with people who are affected by interpersonal trauma and violence, and to help them to make changes in their relationships.
I take a feminist, anti-racist and anti-oppressive social justice approach to my work, so if equity and justice are important to you, you will find me to be a good fit.
What gets me excited for the day, is the opportunity to work with a great team of people, and to spend time with some pretty incredible people. I look so forward to those connections and the meaning that comes along with them.
In return, I hope that clients working with me, would find me relatable, knowledgeable, helpful, conscientious, productive, compassionate and trustworthy.

What I value most in a client is self-awareness, flexibility, receptivity, persistence and openness.

I love the shared energy when in a session, we collectively come to an important insight, conclusion or idea that carries weight or meaning.
